Cellular Services To Remain suspended in 22 Cities Today
Government has made strict security arrangements across the country at the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A and his companions. To ensure the security of processions, mobile phone services in 22 cities of Pakistan has been suspended. The services would remain down in Karachi, from 7 am to 10 pm, in Lahore from 10 am to 11 pm and in Rawalpindi from 9 am to 11 pm.
A report indicates that during the suspension on Ashura this year around 100 million mobile phone users were affected and telecom companies lost Rs 1.8 billion in revenues. Government should seriously work on this issue and devise a new mechanism for security that doesn’t involve suspension of mobile phone services in the whole country.
